My wife, Mel, and I are both busy professionals, and like most parents, struggle to find the balance between work and family life. Sometimes it was just easier to flip on the TV to help keep Chloe engaged, but that presented a different set of problems.
Almost all parents juggle the balance between hands-on and hands-off engagement with their children - we can’t be everywhere all the time and what we lack most is trust in the content. I didn’t want to feel guilty about letting a screen deliver messages or content to Chloe.
What if we could deliver a family-first digital experience that was centered around Chloe?
Ironically, we were sitting on our couch as a family, watching the animated version of ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ when the idea hit me - why can’t this story be about Chloe, instead of Sophie? She’s always responded best to stories that focused on her - what if she could be the star in every story, along with her friends and family, and Fitzroy (her trusted sidekick). Could she be the main attraction, mixing in educational elements, on a platform built just for her? That’s how we started - ensuring screen time is meaningful, and personalized, for Chloe but in a way that would allow all families to benefit.
